General info
Javantura is a Java conference in Croatia, organized by the community for the community. This is our 2nd Javantura conference in Zagreb in 2014, so we also like to call it Javantura v2. It will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 in two halls in Nova cesta 7 (2nd floor), Zagreb. Our intent is to gather the majority of the Java community in Croatia and from the region as well, but we also expect a lot of visitors from all other countries.
Are there any other Java conferences in Croatia?
Our first Javantura conference was in February 2014 in Zagreb, and there were 12 sessions from 14 speakers and 150+ participants (all pages are in Croatian). There are pictures in the gallery as well as videos of all sessions available.
We have also co-organized other conferences including JavaCro’14 (Poreč, 220 visitors from 11 countries, 50 sessions, 3 tracks, 2 days), JavaCro’13 (Tuhelj, 200 visitors, 50 sessions, 2.5 days, 3 tracks), Java 2012, WebCamp Zagreb 2013 (600 visitors, 24 sessions, 2 tracks, 1 day), WebCamp Zagreb 2012, and Java Days at HrOUG 2013, 2012 & 2011.
Who are the organizers of Javantura conference?
- Hrvatska udruga Java korisnika – HUJAK (Croatian Java User Association)
- Udruženje za informacijske tehnologije Hrvatske gospodarske komore – IT HGK (IT Association at Croatian Chamber of Economy)
Who are the speakers?
Considering that Call for Speakers is still open, at this moment we can only say that we expect interesting speakers from Croatia, the region as well as from all over the world, like the ones the we’ve seen on our previous conferences. In the meantime you can take a look at the speakers from Javantura v1, JavaCro’14, JavaCro’13 or Java 2012.
How many visitors do you expect?
There are two conference halls which can take around 270 visitors and we expect that all seats will be taken. Here are some pictures from the previous Javantura conference to get the impression.

Do I need to register?
Registration is required and mandatory for all participants (including speakers and organizers). Registration will open after the program is published, presumably in October 2014.
Is there a conference fee?
For all members of HUJAK (all company members employees and all individual members with paid membership for 2014) there will be a special conference fee cca 50-100 kn (no taxes).
Speakers don’t have to pay conference fee.
For all others there will be a standard conference fee cca 150-250 kn (no taxes).
We will publish Javantura conference fees and other info when we open the registration.
Before you decide to buy a standard conference fee ticket we advise you to look at the benefits of membership in HUJAK (in Croatian).
When and how will ticket be available?
Registration will open after the program is published, presumably in October 2014 at least 3 weeks before the conference.
There will be a link where you can buy tickets. If you want to know instantly we publish it, please follow us on Twitter and Facebook, or subscribe to (follow) this site.
What is in it for me?
If you are HUJAK member then you probably know the answer 🙂 You can look at Javantura conference as an evolution of HUJAK’s meetups or younger sibling of our JavaCro conference, but the main difference is that it is in Zagreb, on Saturday and with significantly lower conference fees compared to the most of other Java conferences.
If you are Java developer or working with Java technologies on a daily basis, this is probably the easiest (and cheapest) way to keep informed about the latest Java news and get in touch with your colleagues, as well as share experiences and opinions in the cozy social meetup way. Of course, if you see the benefits we invite you to become a member of HUJAK.
Even if you don’t work with Java everyday, this may be the easiest way to find out what is happening in and around the world of Java – what and how are your partners, suppliers and vendors doing (maybe even the competition), and what technologies are worth to investigate further or introduce in your IT projects and business. And you may discover why is Java the most popular programming language worldwide 🙂
Is there a conference program or schedule?
The conference program as well as schedule will be published later in the October 2014, but we expect that the conference will start around 9am and it should last till the lunch time (cca 3pm).
What is the location for the conference?
The conference will be held in two large halls of IT Association at Croatian Chamber of Economy (IT HGK).
The address is Nova cesta 7, 2nd floor (south entrance near Lidl store), Zagreb, Croatia. You can take a look at the map.
Where can I park my car?
You can park:
- in the city parking zone 2 (yellow, 3 kn/h, max. 3h) around Dom sportova and in nearby streets
- in the garage of Lidl store beneath the building (first hour for free, after that 15 kn/h, but sometimes on the weekend the ramp is open)
- in the parking from hotel Panorama (6 kn/h, paid at the reception)
- on a few free parkings nearby (e.g. near Ericsson or other smaller streets without city parking zones), 5-7 minutes on foot
How can you help us?
Speakers
Before all other, if you think there is something interesting that you want to share with the rest of the community, please submit a session (presentation) to Javantura conference as one of potential speakers. Anyone with a quality session can become a speaker, and we don’t limit that to our members. We definitely expect to see most of the speakers from our previous conferences and gatherings, but we also encourage and invite you to be a speaker even if you never gave a presentation on a conference (so this could be some kind of general rehearsal if you are planning to speak in some of the famous Java conferences).
Volunteers
Since Javantura is organized as a community-driven event and there isn’t a lot of us in the organization team, so we need your help, mostly in on-site activities at the conference, and maybe some in the week before. If you are willing to help us as a volunteer, this may be your chance to participate and give something to the community, as well as to do some quality in person networking and directly meet and talk to other people from the industry. If you’re motivated to join us in organizing and logistics please send us an email.
Sponsors
If you have a successful business, interesting product or innovative service that you want to introduce to a wider public, we suggest you that you become a sponsor. In this way, besides helping us to cover the costs of the conference, you will have an opportunity to additionally get extra media exposure of your company, product and/or service, as well as to present your needs to potential partners, clients or future employees. There will be more about sponsorship on other page.
At the end …
This is a community conference, so you are doing it together with us. The conference is about YOU – our speakers, visitors, sponsors, volunteers and everyone else in the Java community. So, once again, we welcome you to Javantura and let the adventure (“avantura” in Croatian) begin …
